Join us to be part of an intellectually stimulating journey in the realm of law.
What we offer you
For aspiring barristers, solicitors, or politicians, public speaking is an invaluable skill. Our live-recorded debates on YouTube showcase your eloquence and intellectual rigor, enriching all attendees. Participants earn a certificate of public speaking excellence for their exceptional contributions to Cardiff's student and staff community.
Our Patron: Sir Thomas More
Sir Thomas More (1478–1535) was an English lawyer, Lord Chancellor, and author, widely respected for his legal acumen and ethical conduct. As Lord Chancellor, he was the highest legal officer in England, known for his fair judgments and commitment to justice. More's refusal to support King Henry VIII's break from the Catholic Church, despite immense pressure, exemplifies his unwavering adherence to the law and his conscience. His willingness to sacrifice his life rather than compromise his principles makes his legal career a timeless example of integrity and moral courage.
Thomas More Club: our next event
On December 13h, from 5-6pm, at the brand new SPARK building, four of Cardiff University’s brightest Law and Politics students will go head-to-head on one of the most complex and controversial topics:
“The Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill 2024-25 has no place in GREAT BRITAIN"
Join us for just an hour, and enjoy an engaging debate, closing this semester on a good note, while also deciding who won, at this exciting event.
